AC and DC magnetic measurements were performed on the ternary intermetallic
phase Tb3Co8Sn4. The compound shows a ferrimagnetic transition at T-c=91 K
. From the imaginary part of the AC susceptibility a second broad peak was
detected at T-s=28 R and ascribed to a transition to a spin glass state. Ze
ro field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) magnetization measurements at m
u H-0=0.05 Tesla (T) confirmed the reentrant spin lass state below 30 it. T
he hysteresis cycle, obtained from magnetization measurements at 5 KI allow
s to obtain the remanence (B-r=0.43 T) and the coercive field (H-c=159.2 kA
/m). The experimental data were analysed in the framework of the h Molecula
r Field Theory. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
