The use of central venous catheters has gained wine acceptance in pret
erms parenteral nutrition. Serious complications include infection, me
chanical damages, like perforation and obstruction, and thrombosis: in
tracardiac thrombosis is uncommon. Two cases of catheter-related throm
bosis in preterms are described. Both cases was diagnosed by two-dimen
sional echocardiography and Color-doppler ultrasound examination. Succ
essfull urokinase therapy was performed in both cases.
