Abstract
The Rorschach Depression Index of Exner was correlated with eight self -report measures of affect and related personality constructs, includi ng the Beck Depression Inventory, the Multiple Affect Adjective Checkl ist-Revised Depression and Positive Affect scales, and Kaplan Self-der ogation in a sample of 41 undergraduates (M age 19 yr.). The only sign ificant correlation was an unexpected inverse correlation (r=-.35) for scores on Kaplan Self-derogation, suggesting the need for caution in the use of the Depression Index as an indicator of depression in nonpa tients.
