Mm. Ghoneim et al., Determination of Norfloxacin by square-wave adsorptive voltammetry on a glassy carbon electrode, J PHARM B, 25(2), 2001, pp. 205-210
The adsorptive and electrochemical behavior of norfloxacin on a glassy carb
on electrode were investigated by cyclic and square-wave voltammetry. Cycli
c voltammetric studies indicated that the process was irreversible and fund
amentally controlled by adsorption. To obtain a good sensitivity. the solut
ion conditions and instrumental parameters were studied using square-wave v
oltammetry. In acetate buffer of pH 5.0. nurfloxacin gave a sensitive adsor
ptive oxidative peak at 0.920 V (versus Ag-AgCl). Applicability to measurem
ent of norfloxacin at submicromolar levels in urine samples was illustrated
. The peak current was linear with the norfloxacin concentration in the ran
ge 5-50 mug mi urine. The detection limit was 1.1 mug ml(-1) urine. (C) 200
