N. Paredes et al., Poly(ester amide)s derived from glycine, even-numbered diols, and dicarboxylic acids: Considerations on the packing, J POL SC PP, 39(10), 2001, pp. 1036-1045
A new sequential poly(ester amide) derived from 1,12-dodecanediol, sebacic
acid, and glycine was synthesized and characterized, its crystalline struct
ure was studied with transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction
. The results were compared with results for a related polymer, derived fro
m glycine, 1,6-hexanediol, and succinic acid, that produced a lower methyle
ne/carbonyl ratio. The crystalline structures of both polymers corresponded
to a periodic arrangement of two layers of hydrogen-bonded molecular chain
s, whose polymethylene sequences mimicked the packing of polyethylene and t
he majority of polyesters. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci B:
