Abstract
The genus Schizopathes is reviewed and its relationship with other gen era in the family is discussed. The genus contains two previously desc ribed species, S. affinis Brook and S. crassa Brook, and one new speci es described here as S. amplispina. Schizopathes amplispina can be dif ferentiated from S. affinis and S. crassa by its larger spines and mor e closely spaced pinnules. Schizopathes amplispina is known only from the type locality in the western Indian Ocean.
