Abstract
We report the first calculations of the elastic differential cross sec tions (DCS) for electron scattering from SF6 at six impact energies (i n the range 100-700 eV) employing the independent atom model (IAM) wit h partial waves. The atoms are presented by a model complex optical po tential which is composed of static, exchange, polarization, and absor ption terms. The integrated elastic and momentum transfer cross sectio ns are obtained. Compared with available experimental data, the presen t approach presents good results. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
