S. Shimizu et H. Sakamoto, On-machine monitoring of the wheel-working surface condition with the relative frequency distribution of its profile, KEY ENG MAT, 196, 2001, pp. 111-120
In this paper, the possibility of on-machine monitoring of the dulling and
loading of the working surface of the grinding wheel is considered based on
the relative frequency distribution of its profile measured by the laser m
icrometer. The following results are obtained: 1) With the progress of the
dulling, the spiky pattern occurs on the relative frequency distribution. 2
) With the progress of the loading, the shift of the relative frequency dis
tribution to the plus side and the swelling up at the plus area of the dist
ribution occur. 3) The shift corresponds to the deposition type loading, an
d the swelling-up corresponds to the welding type loading. 4) The progress
of the dulling and two types of the loading are possible to be monitored us
ing the spiky pattern, the shift and the swelling up of the relative freque
ncy distribution.
