Abstract
Pentavalent rhenium-188 dimercaptosuccinic acid [Re-188(V)DMSA] is a beta - emitting radiopharmaceutical that has been proposed for the treatment of pa inful bone metastases, medullary thyroid carcinoma and other soft tissue tu mours. In this study the development of a kit formulation for convenient, r outine preparation of Re-188(V)DMSA is presented. The kit contains all the ingredients in a single vial and its reconstitution with Re-188 perrhenate, up to 4 mt, produces Re-188(V)DMSA in high radiochemical purity, suitable for clinical application. Re-188(V)DMSA prepared by this kit method was eva luated in mice and resulted in a biodistribution pattern similar to that of Tc-99m(V)DMSA.
