Used oils refining with solvents

The paper presents an experimental study regarding waste oil re-refining by the extraction of the lubricant base oil with ketones and the precipitatio n of the metallo-organic compounds which come from the lubricating oil addi tives of the fuel combustion and the motor parts wear. Using the experiment al results presented in this paper the operation parameters of the extracti on process are determinated. The lubricant base oil extraction with methyl- ethyl ketone takes to strong decreasing of the ash content and metals conte nt from refined lubricating oil Thus, it is possible the refining eliminati on with sulphuric acid from conventional process.
