The paper deals with the correlations between the oldness of a two species
of soft wood (Tillia cordata Mill and Populus robusta), used for the old-pa
intings supports with preparation layers and their chemical composition and
that in extracting compounds, but also with other chemical characteristics
, such as: humidity and the pH of the sample. The supports were initially d
endrochronologically analyzed, establishing the oldness, in correlation wit
h historiographical data. With the help of the microscopic keys the wooden
species were identified and the age of the wood established on the base of
the annual rings. The samples taken from the wooden supports were reported
to a certain area with a determined conservation state.
