We report a case of trapezium fracture treated by continuous traction. The
fracture involved the trapezium alone and was associated with scapho-trapez
ium subluxation. Three percutaneously inserted pins were used for traction,
one scapho-capitate pin and two pins in the first and second metacarpal bo
nes. This allowed distraction of the entire first row. Good anatomic recons
truction of the trapezium was evidenced radiographically. The functional ou
tcome was quite satisfactory with mobility strictly the same as the healthy
side and complete pain relief.
