Ja. Findlay et al., BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS FROM AN ENDOPHYTIC FUNGUS FROM EASTERN LARCH (LARIX-LARICINA) NEEDLES, Canadian journal of chemistry, 75(6), 1997, pp. 716-719
The structures of two novel metabolites isolated from cultures of an u
nidentified endophytic fungus obtained from an eastern larch (Larix la
ricina (Du Roi) K. Koch) needle were shown to be ,4'dihydro-1'H-[2,4']
binaphthalenyl-1,4,2'-trione, 1, and 2-methyloctanoic acid 6-oxo-2-pro
penyl-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-3-yl ester, 2. Structures were determined b
y spectroscopic means. Compound 1 was toxic to spruce budworm (Chorist
oneura fumiferana Clem.) larvae while 2 was active against Vibrio salm
onicida, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus.
