Ti. Tikhomirova et al., The distribution of protonated and molecular forms of aliphatic amines in sorbent-water systems, RUSS J PH C, 75(4), 2001, pp. 538-542
The sorption of aliphatic amines in model sorbent-water systems [the sorben
ts were super-crosslinked polystyrene (SCPS) and silica chemically modified
by hexadecyl groups] was studied as a function of aqueous solution pH. At
pH < 7, amines were predominantly sorbed in the protonated form. The distri
bution constants for the protonated and molecular forms of n-butylamine in
the SCPS-water system were calculated (K-D(BH+) = 0.027 +/- 0.003 and K-D(B
) = 0.102 +/- 0.004).
