Evasion of the immune system by viruses is a well-suited field. It remains
a challenge to understand how these viral tactics affect pathogenesis and t
he viral lifecycle. At the same time, the study of viral proteins involved
in immune evasion has helped us to better understand a number of cellular p
rocesses at the molecular level. Here we review recent data on different vi
ral tactics for immune evasion and highlight what these viral interventions
might teach us about cell biology.
