The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between boredom p
roneness and some solitary sexual activities among adults such as masturbat
ing and viewing pornographic films. The results of multiple regression anal
ysis showed that sexual unsatisfaction and boredom proneness were significa
nt predictors of people's engaging in such activities, and the analysis of
variance revealed that highly boredom-prone individuals were more likely to
engage in such solitary sexual practices than were lower boredom-prone ind
ividuals.
