Superconducting magnets (SCM) for Maglev trains are vibrated by the el
ectromagnetic force arising from the magnetic field of higher harmonic
s, which is due to the arrangement of the ground coils. The heat load
within the liquid helium temperature region increases by the vibration
of the magnets. This paper reports a heat load generation estimation
mechanism due to the above-mentioned vibration, as well as effective m
easures of reducing heat load generation. in addition, we show how a o
ne-coil type SCM can reduce the heat load generation in electromagneti
c disturbance tests. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
