In vitro insecticidal activity of the Annona aff. spraguei seeds (Annonaceae) on two biological model of diptera order: Drosophila melanogaster and Aedes aegypti

In this study, using the Development Inhibition Test with the Drosophila me
lanogaster model, under (in-vitro conditions), the EtOAc extract of Annona
aff. spraguei seeds was evaluated as an insecticide and the results were pr
omising. From the EtOAc extract subjected to chromatography analysis (silic
a gel column), a standard set labeled F2, rich in acetogenins was isolated.
After testing it on the Drosophila model, the set showed significant insec
ticidal activity. The F2 set also showed a high percentage of mortality (le
thal effect) on third and fourth instar larvae of Aedes aegypti. The insect
icidal activity originated in the acetogenins found in the EtOAc extract an
d in the F2 set.
