Ns. Murthy et al., Crystallinity determination in filled and unfilled plastics by X-ray diffraction: Application to glass-filled nylons, AM LABORAT, 33(8), 2001, pp. 32
Many plastics are filled with minerals and fibers to produce materials with
desirable properties. A common fiber filling is carbon, and composites of
this type have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction. In this paper, the au
thors use data from a thermoplastic nylon filled with glass fibers to illus
trate the effect of several variables in analyzing the data and the improve
d precision obtained with constrained least squares refinement techniques.
