Abstract
Ordered polymer microspheres were produced by photo-polymerizing reactive n ematic liquid crystal droplets suspended in glycerol, thus capturing the me sogenic order indefinitely. The electro-optic switching of these structures suspended in a fluid is investigated and described by a simple phenomenolo gical model. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
