Abstract
Reaction of the tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)methane complex [Ti(NBut){HC(Me( 2)pz)(3)}Cl-2] with MeLi or LiNPr2i in tetrahydrofuran (THF) gives the zwit terionic titanium imido derivative [Ti(NBut){C(Me(2)pz)(3)}Cl(THF)] 2 which contains the first structurally authenticated, naked sp(3)-hybridised carb anion; the molecular and electronic structures of 2 are described.
