Abstract
We have investigated the role of GSTM1, M3, P1 and T1 in susceptibility to and outcome in patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma. We found that GSTM1 B and GSTT1 null were significantly associated with risk of developing thi s common cancer. GSTM1 B was significantly associated with improved surviva l in patients under 70 years at diagnosis, whilst GSTM3 BE was significantl y associated with reduced survival in those above this age. In addition, GS TT1 null was significantly associated with an earlier presentation, improve d survival in patients under 70 years at diagnosis and paradoxically reduce d survival in those above this age.
