Organ distribution of glutathione transferase isoenzymes in common toad (Bufo bufo)

The distribution of glutathione transferase isoenzymes in liver, kidney, sk in, muscle, lung and ovary of the common toad (Bufo bufo) was investigated. The GSH-affinity purified materials were analysed by HPLC and characterise d by mass-spectrometry and partial N-terminal sequence. Even though in diff erent ratio, bbGSTP1-1 and bbGSTP2-2, as well as mu-class GST were found in all tissues investigated. Alpha-class GST is present in skin, liver, muscl e and lung whereas the sigma class appears only in the liver. Apparently no theta-class GST was found.
