The particular chromophoric structure of C70Ph10 (see picture), which consi
sts of two cage-centered pi -electron systems, makes its photophysical prop
erties an exception to those found for other phenylated [70]fullerenes C70P
h2n (n = 2-4). For these other C70Ph2n species, their intrinsic photophysic
al properties undergo smooth transitions as a function of n.
