Abstract
The corrosion accelerating effect of rhenium oxides deposited onto ARMCO ir on surface has been studied in aerated 0.5 H2SO4 and 1 mol dm(-3) HCl blank solutions and in the presence of 10 and 100 mg dm(-3) Re2O7. It has been s hown that rhenium has a decisive effect on the acceleration of cathodic hyd rogen evolution and, consequently, on the corrosion of iron. (C) 2001 Elsev ier Science Ltd.
