Abstract
Isothermal solubilities at 323.15 K, of benzene, tetrahydrofuran and 2-buta none in poly(vinyl acetate) are reported. These data, in the concentrated p olymer regime, were measured using a recently constructed quartz crystal ba lance. Solvent activities were represented with a modified Flory-Huggins ac tivity model to within experimental error. Our results compared with availa ble literature data favorably. Three free volume activity models described in the literature predicted our experimental results with reasonable accura cy. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
