Jw. Lee et al., Measurement and correlation of dye solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide (vol 173, pg 277, 2000), FLU PH EQUI, 179(1-2), 2001, pp. 385
Dry dyeing which does not use water is a new approach in textile industry i
n order to reduce or eliminate effluent wastewater. Supercritical carbon di
oxide is an alternative solvent which is considered for dry dyeing processe
s. This study focused on the determination of the dye solubility in supercr
itical carbon dioxide. The solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide of tw
o disperse dyes, C.I. disperse blue 3 and C.I. disperse blue 79 at temperat
ures from 323.7 to 413.7 K and pressures from 100 to 300 bar have been meas
ured, using a flow-type equilibrium cell. The effect of temperature, pressu
re and density of carbon dioxide on solubility of dyes has been investigate
d. The solubility data were correlated with fairly good accuracy with an ex
panded liquid model that needs no critical properties and vapor pressure of
dyes. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
