Objective To report the case history of a patient who underwent a laparosco
pic resection of a rudimentary uterine horn following a pregnancy and ruptu
re at 30 weeks' gestation.
Methods The clinical records of the patient were reviewed.
Results The clinical and radiological findings demonstrated a unicornuate u
terus, without a patent connection between the rudimentary uterine horn, an
d the cervix. The patient's first pregnancy occurred in the rudimentary ute
rine horn which ruptured at 30 weeks' gestation. A haematometra developed 1
7 months after an emergency Caesarean section, and she subsequently underwe
nt a laparoscopic resection of the rudimentary uterine horn.
Conclusion This case report describes a minimal access procedure being carr
ied out to treat a congenital anomaly of the uterus following a major obste
tric complication.
