Abstract
A 43.5 nun aperture dipole magnet with a nominal field of II T is being fab ricated at Fermilab, The design is based on a two-layer shell-type coil str ucture made of Rutherford-type Nb3Sn cable with wind and react technology. The mechanical support structure consists of vertically split iron yoke loc ked bg two aluminum damps and a 8 mm thick stainless steel skin. This paper summarizes the fabrication details of the first dipole model and test resu lts from a 200 mm long mechanical model.
