Abstract
In case of manufacturing the applied superconducting machines using High-Tc superconductor (HTS) such as SMES, MAGLEV, and superconducting generator, superconducting joint is very important because they need very long tapes. For this reason, the investigation of AC Loss of jointed tapes should be co nsidered as well as that of the AC Loss of jointless tapes, and so we inves tigated the tendency of Ae Loss with superconducting joint, and compared th e AC Loss of jointed tapes with that of jointless tapes. Zn this paper, the ;AC Loss in BSCCO-2223 silver (Ag) sheathed tapes was measured by using fou r-probe transport technique at 77 K. Firstly, it was shown that the experimental measurement of AC loss in the t apes agree well with the calculated values provided by Norris equation, Mor eover, it was shown that the AC loss depends on amplitude of transport curr ent. Finally? it was shown that the AC Loss depends on joint resistance and Andes n.
