Abstract
This paper presents the results of the quench detection tests of a high Tc superconducting coil (HTS coil) wound with Bi-2223 tape, impregnated by epo xy resin and cooled by LN2 using a partial active power detecting method we have proposed as a new type quench detecting method. The tests were carrie d out for DC and AC current. The results showed that the proposed method wa s useful for the quench detection of the HTS coil.
