Abstract
In order to design thermally trigger controlled persistent current switch ( PCS) for superconducting magnet system, it is very important to know inform ation of adiabatic method and condition to obtain designed resistance and c haracteristics. In this work, we used cotton tape as thermal insulator and calculated averaged thermal conductivity of it around 10K on the assumption that the adiabatic structure of PCS is shape of pipe. The result of about 0.29 W/m(.)K was verified reasonable value by computer simulations and esti mation of test PCS, which was designed and manufactured with different dime nsional parameters. The experimental results of test PCS were in good agree ment with the calculated results.
