Abstract
Recently, there has been increasing interest in providing broadband service s. Wireless ATM will be used to support broadband services in future genera tion mobile communications. We have studied how to treat the loop cancellat ion and path optimization of the path extension handover scheme. In this pa per, we present path optimization algorithm as means to effect this treatme nt, they are polygonal loop cancellation and trigonal loop cancellation We express the location of the mobile terminal (MT) by direction angles, which we convert into direction vectors. Using these direction vectors, we can a scertain the optimal path of the MT. We compare the proposed scheme with th e anchor rerouting scheme in average handover delay, communication disrupti on delay, buffer requirements, and the total time used for exchanging signa ling messages.
