Abstract
A physical and mathematical model of heat and moisture transfer in midlatit udinal boreal forests is designed. Special attention is given to the proces ses proceeding in cold seasons. The model is verified on the basis of data obtained for the Taezhnyi Ravine catchment area located in the central Vald ai Hills. The results of a correlation between the computed and measured hy draulic and thermal characteristics of the catchment ecosystem are presente d for an 18-year period (1966-1983).
