Abstract
New pyridine silver(III) complexes have been synthesized by the concurrent oxidation of silver(I) ion and ammonia in the reaction of pyridine and silv er nitrate using ammonium peroxydisulfate in aqueous ammonia solution. At h igh pH values, trans-[Ag(py)(2)(N-2)(2)](OH)(3) was obtained, which was the n converted to trans-[Ag(py)(2)(N-2)(2)](ClO4)(3). However, at lower pH val ues [Ag(py)(4)](ClO4)(2)(NO3) was isolated.
