Abstract
A new species of ingolfiellid Amphipoda, Ingolfiella beatricis, collected f rom groundwater in a cave near Ljubljana in Slovenia is described. It is th e first ingolfiellid, possessing developed "ocular lobes", found in inland fresh groundwater and is therefore of biogeographic interest. Its morpholog ical characters suggest a marine origin, a supposition that is strengthened by the marine relationships of accompanying fauna.
