Abstract
The oxovanadium (IV) complex [VOL2].5H(2)O (1) and the oxovanadium(V) compl exes K[VOL2O].4H(2)O) (2), [VOL2OH] (3) and [VOL2OCH3] (4) (L = potassium s alt of 7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid) were prepared and charact erized. The IR spectra of the solids were recorded and discussed in compari son with those of other similar compounds. The electronic absorption spectr a, in different solvents, were also analyzed. Pre-resonance Raman measureme nts, performed with the first two mentioned complexes, reinforce some of th e spectroscopic assignments.
