Abstract
The effects of surface roughness and waviness upon the real contact ar eas, gaps between contact spots, and asperity contact pressures were s tudied. The distribution of real areas, gaps, and contact pressures ar e presented for different surface roughness, a and correlation lengths , beta. The load-area relationship is compared to Bush's model of str ongly anisotropic rough surface contact using a stochastic approach.
