Abstract
The trajectories of cold atoms guided in defect modes of photonic crystals are simulated with the use of numerical methods. The results of these simul ations demonstrate that photonic crystals with a lattice defect permit the laser guiding of atoms with much higher transverse temperatures and much hi gher transverse localization degrees than the hollow-fiber technique.
