Abstract
This paper describes a microstrip array antenna designed to operate at 35 G Hz. and used as a position detector of moving targets. To obtain a wide det ection range, the array was arranged to have a relatively narrower beamwidt h in the elevation plane compared to the beamwidth in the azimuthal plane. This was achieved by aligning the electric-field plane of each element to t he array axis. Employing a 3 dB tapered feed network. the array has a sidel obe level of less than -20 dB, while retaining a wide azimuthal beamwidth. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
