The complete solubility diagram of the ternary system KI-I-2-2-propanol at
25 degreesC was constructed by the section method. The system is characteri
zed by a three-phase equilibrium of the eutectic type, with KI and I-2 as s
olid phases. The compositions of the crystallizing solid phases, determined
graphically by the section method, were confirmed by X-ray phase analysis.
In the system, KI acts as a salting-out agent relative to crystalline I-2.
