Abstract
Tethering the N-8-substituents of N-8-substituted styryl xanthine to N-7 ha s resulted in a series of conformationally constrained styryl xanthine anal ogs having the general formula 8. These new compounds have also been evalua ted in order to investigate ii the A(2A) adenosine receptor would be able t o tolerate such a modification.
