Headaches and sleep disorders are frequent and can be associated with each
other. Some headache syndromes are related to certain sleep phases or circa
dian rhythms. These so-called sleep-related headache syndromes include spec
ific types of migraine, cluster headache, chronic paroxysmal hemicrania, an
d the hypnic headache syndrome. Except for the latter, they were included i
n the International Classification of Sleep Disorders and are described in
this article.
