L. Botar et al., Catalytic oxidation of methane to formaldehyde. Computer modeling for chemical engineering evaluation, ACH-MODEL C, 137(5-6), 2000, pp. 711-724
Evaluation of process variables of catalytic oxidation of methane into form
aldehyde obtained in continuous flow, continuous flow recycle and flow recy
cle batch laboratory reactors based on theoretical and mathematical statist
ical considerations is carried out. A set of two linearly independent react
ions is defined and introduced as multistep overall reaction mechanism in t
he conservation equations. Arrhenius parameters are evaluated by statistica
l methods. Conversion of methane, selectivity, yield and space-time yield a
re computed in function of catalyst concentration, reaction temperature and
residence time. Based on their analysis viable process parameters and the
type of continuous flow recycle reactor are suggested for chemical engineer
ing purposes.
