Abstract
An extensive cross section database for the electron-impact inelastic proce sses of vibrationally excited molecules of hydrogen and its isotopes is pre sented. The following inelastic processes are covered: electronic excitatio n (dissociative and nondissociative), direct ionization (dissociative and n ondissociative), excitation-radiative decay vibrational excitation and diss ociation, and dissociative electron attachment. The data have been compiled partly from the literature and partly generated theoretically for the pres ent report. The data are presented in graphical form. The data are also pre sented by sufficiently accurate analytic fit functions. Mass-scaling relati ons are provided for cross section evaluation of those isotope molecules fo r which calculated data are not available. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
