A hysteresis loop tracer to measure the ac magnetization of high-T-c s
uperconductors in the frequency range of 30 Hz-10 kHz is described, wi
th driving held amplitudes up to 0.1 T. Due to the high frequency of t
he magnetic field, the hysteresis loops could be displayed on an oscil
loscope and their details could be observed. The demagnetization facto
r, the stability, and the frequency characteristics of the tracer were
tested. The ac magnetization of granular high-T-c superconductors was
studied as a function of field amplitude and frequency. (C) 1997 Amer
