Abstract
A new algorithm for the extraction of words from printed documents tha t have interference marks and other strokes, cutting across text, is p resented. Morphological operations based on multiple direction project ion planes and skeleton images are adopted here to prevent the ''flood ing water'' effect of conventional morphological operations. Test resu lts indicate the feasibility of the proposed approach.
