Abstract
IR and Raman spectra as well as dipole moments of the title compounds in solution are reported. Analysis of the dielectric data shows that, at 25 degrees C, the compounds in the series exist as rotameric mixtur es in benzene solution containing 84, 72 and 67% respectively of the g auche rotamer. The experimentally derived values of the gauche/trans p opulation quotients are compared with values predicted by semiempirica l MO and molecular mechanics calculations.
