Studies on miscibility of polyacetal with Novolak

The miscibility of polyacetal (POM) with Novolak was studied. It was found that POM/Novolak blends showed a lower critical solution temperature in the ir cloud point curve and the melting point decreasing by DSC test. The inte raction parameter(X) of POM and Novolak was calculated by Hoffman-Weeks' eq uilibrium melting point method and Flory equation. The investigation of FTI R for POM/Novolak blends demonstrated that there was a hydrogen bond betwee n the molecular chain of POM and Novolak, which resulted in the movement of absorption peak to a low frequency. All results certified that POM was mis cible with Novolak.
