Abstract
Azobenzenes, 2-(R2RMC6H4N)-R-1-M-2=NPh (M = Si (1a-c), Ge (7), and Sn (8)), were synthesized by reactions of 2-lithioazobenzene (6) with the correspon ding chloro compounds, (R2RMCl)-R-1-M-2, respectively, in good to moderate yields. The crystal structure of 1c was established by the X-ray crystallog raphic analysis.
